There’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy, but if you have a son or daughter participating in school sports this fall, now is the time you may need to make sure they have a sports physical.
If your son or daughter recently had a complete physical from your primary care physician, you may be able to get a sign off from them. But if your busy summer schedule doesn’t match up with regular doctor office hours, IEP Urgent Care is here for you, after hours and on weekends.
We offer complete sports physicals for just $25.00 (this fee is not covered by insurance), seven days a week, with no appointment needed, at all IEP Urgent Care locations in metro Detroit.
A sports physical at IEP Urgent Care includes:
Evaluate athlete’s and the athlete’s family medical history
Evaluate any exercise related injuries or issues, including concussions
Physical examination of height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, vision, reflexes, lung function
Evaluate range of motion and strength in the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle joints
A sports physical does not replace a complete annual physical. “A sports physical, while valuable and important in helping to determine a child’s ability and fitness to compete in organized sports, it is not a substitute for a complete annual wellness visit with your son or daughter’s primary care physician,” said Dr. Rami Khoury, Emergency Medicine physician and one of our physician owners of IEP Urgent Care.
To prepare for your sports physical, have your form ready along with any of your child’s medical information, past injuries, medications, or allergies. Have your student athlete wear comfortable clothes to the appointment. We look forward to helping get the next sports season off to a great start!
