It's Sports Physical Season - Make Sure Your Child is Ready to Play or Go to Camp!

If your son or daughter is getting ready for an upcoming school sports season or is planning to go to summer camp, they will likely need to get a sports physical and provide a form signed by a doctor clearing them to play or attend. And if that sports physical form has been inside a backpack for a week or so, you may just have a few days to get this done. IEP Urgent Care to the rescue!

We offer complete sports physicals for just $25.00 (this fee is not covered by insurance), seven days a week, with no appointment needed, at all seven IEP Urgent Care locations in metro Detroit.

A sports physical at IEP Urgent Care includes:

• Evaluate athlete’s and the athlete’s family medical history

• Evaluate any exercise related injuries or issues, including concussions

• Physical examination of height, weight, blood pressure, heart rate, vision, reflexes, lung function

• Evaluate range of motion and strength in the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle joints

A sports physical does not replace a complete annual physical. “A sports physical, while valuable and important in helping to determine a child’s ability and fitness to compete in organized sports, it is not a substitute for a complete annual wellness visit with your son or daughter’s primary care physician,” said Dr. Rami Khoury, Emergency Medicine physician and one of our physician owners of IEP Urgent Care.

To prepare for your sports physical, have your form ready along with any of your child’s medical information, past injuries, medications, or allergies. Have your student athlete wear comfortable clothes to the appointment. We look forward to helping get the next sports season off to a great start!
